Mental Craze

Crazy a term I find to be highly dismissive. Used by people who don't take the time or want to understand a different point of view. Mental Illness I find to be highly interesting. The fact that these people perceive a different view of reality that others don't, because of it they are treated differently and poorly. It seems people don't take the time to understand that for them it is very real.

I find it highly interesting to try an understand how they view things but "when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you"-Friedrich Nietzsche is what tends to stir me away. This quote in this context mean that if one dedicated the time to understand the views and perceptions of mentally ill patients they in turn will take part of that perception and lose part of their sanity.

In our world there are things that exist beyond the humans limited range of senses. Then who is to say some haven't been born or adapted to perceive the outer spectrum of senses that others cannot. Alter states or hallucinogenics being one of the sensory expander so to speak that allow one to go beyond our normal range of senses.

So who really sets the standard for "normal" and crazy when everyone is so uniquely different perceiving the world differently. This is why I find anyone who uses such a dismissive term as crazy to be a highly ignorant individual.

Persecuted Heros

I have incredible respect and admiration for any person who is willing to lose everything to fight for truth and justice so they can better the lives of others. Edward Snowden who sacrificed his whole life to expose the fact that the government has been spying on its own civilians and taking away their civil liberties, and Bradley Manning who exposed the crimes of the military butchering innocent civilians and children and was detained in confinement for 1000 days because of it are real life heros.

They went against laws and rules and followed their moral obligations to expose the corruption that fills our world. They are trendsetters like the many that came before. They are an ideal and an inspiration that many should want to aspire to be and follow, because if everyone were like them the world will change drastically for the better. For history has shown us that these persecuted heros are the ones who have made the biggest change in the live of many, and have etched their mark in time.

I have learned to value moral obligations because of them. For if I see injustices I will speak out even if it is against the norm or law.

Uniformed Violence

I am really getting sick and tired of hearing and reading about police officers not doing their jobs properly. Countless occurrences of uniformed officers killing and causing havoc on the lives of civilian they are entitled to protect. Sammy Yatim was a case close to home that an officer trained in dealing with subduing violent individuals. Shot Sammy who was agitated and wielding a knife numerous times, then proceeded to taser the downed victim.
Then I came across the Russell family case. Officers instead of working with the family to help get their daughter who shot herself in a suicide attempt to the hospital just made matters worse. They pepper sprayed the father then handcuffed him and his son to a bench in holding, the two did not get their chance to say their final goodbye to the daughter that died at a hospital. To make matters worse the officers wrote a complain to the sons military officer saying he is unstable and got him removed from service.
A few months back there was the chaos that L.A.P.D stirred up hunting Christopher Dorner. During the man hunt officers went around terrorizing innocent civilians shooting up two ladies in a pickup truck that was not befitting of the description given for the suspect. The truck was riddles with countless bullets, striking up the question of innocent until proven guilty does it even apply anymore?

Clearly the people that we are lead to believe are supposed to protect us aren't doing a very good job. This is why I don't respect the uniform and I believe everyone should be able to protect themselves.
